Established in the 2021-22 school year, our kindergarten program is a Department of Public Instruction recognized private school. It is a unique combination of the Reggio-Inspired, project-based learning that has made the preschool so successful with the state learning standards for kindergarten. The Reggio-inspired curriculum encourages children to work together in conjunction with their teachers to pave a successful learning environment.
As in our preschool, the Reggio-inspired approach means that children are active participants in their own learning. The children work in cooperation with one another and their teachers through shared experiences and explorations of creative and unique topics. Through these experiences and explorations, the children develop deeper meanings and understandings, not only concerning the particular project, but also their own feelings of competency, independence, and cooperation. In each project, teachers guide the children’s learning in various academic arenas, including literacy, mathematics, science, physical education, dramatic play, music, art, and tinkering.
The qualified classroom teachers are supported by our specialists, who will focus on art experiences and music explorations. PSA Kindergarten continues to embrace the whole child, creating a safe and nurturing environment for children to find their voice, grow in confidence, and become active and enthusiastic learners more than prepared for entry into public or private 1st grade.
