Monday, March 10th (11:30am-12:30pm). Come join us for a seminar / discussion with Dr. Heather Kirkorian, a Developmental Psychologist in the Human Development and Family Studies department at the UW. Her research explores early learning from television and interactive technology. During this meeting, she will share the latest findings on the impact of screen media on early learning and cognitive development. For example, Dr. Kirkorian will address the following questions: Are educational TV shows and video games actually beneficial for children? What is the impact of television viewing and video gaming on the development of language and attention skills? What can parents do to maximize the potential benefits of screen media while minimizing potential harms?
Tuesday, April 8th (11:30am-12:30pm). Linda Hugdahl, our Education Consultant, will lead a seminar on conflict resolution with young children. Linda has over 30 years of experience as a special education teacher at Madison Metropolitan School District, and she will share some behavioral strategies for conflict resolution based on a book by Betsy Evans, “You Can’t Come to My Party”.
We hope to see you there!
