In this course, we will explore identity formation in young children, and how we can use the Reggio Emilia inspired approach to promote self-acceptance and celebrate differences.
1. Reggio Emilia
An overview of the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education.
How we see ourselves, the relationships, memories, experiences that have held importance to us (both positive and negative) are how we create our identity. Identity is everything that makes us who we are.
3. Young Children and Identity
Identity is the first goal of anti-bias education according to the official curriculum. With very young children, this is where to start. Following the Reggio Emilia guidelines, children are as capable and full citizens of the community. It’s important for an educator to recognize each student’s identity fully in the classroom.
