Green Room’s Library Project: Looking for Donations

The Green Room would like to announce the grand opening of The Great Penny Library – a library for PSA students – inspired by their summer investigation of libraries! Any donations of books, magazines, movies & CDs are greatly appreciated. The Green Room will organize and circulate these items for check out to classrooms at PSA. At the end of the summer, all donated items will remain at PSA or find new homes.  Please see Linda, Jenna or Cheryl in the Green Room if you have any donations.  Thanks for helping the Green Room launch their library!

The Green Room library opened as scheduled and welcomed some unexpected drop-ins. The children practiced being both librarians and customers. We’re ready to go for our first library tour tomorrow morning when the Silver Room comes for a visit.

Here’s a look at our trial run of The Great Penny Library!

The children decided that the library section signs should hang above their respective areas.

The 5 and Up sign hangs above the area designated for older readers.

A basket filled with book receipts, hand stamps, paper & pencil, and a barcode scanner is ready for use at the check-out desk.

The library title and Open/Closed signs are posted for all to see!

Norah from the Copper Room came to our meeting. She wondered, “Who is going to read the books to us when we visit?”

Orange Room teacher, Susan, happened upon our library and checked out a book on house plants.

Colin helps Henry select the correct colored receipt for the books Mariam checked out. The receipt color matches the colored dot on the binding of the book.

The check out desk is one of the busiest places in the library!

Shhhh! Quiet voices are used in the library so as not to disturb members who are trying to work or read.
